My Grandmother says that you should always set a table fit for a king. Even if we eat a casual lunch of “make your own” cold cut sandwiches, Grammy puts the mayonnaise in a serving dish. She thinks that it is tacky to have a mayonnaise jar on the table! Well, she passed that on to my mother and my mother passed that on to me.
Well, I gotta tell you with juggling a a new marriage, a young adult son, a full-time career, and the beach shop; I’m not as exacting as Grammy all the time. :) (I’ll admit that I’ve even wolfed down a sandwich over the kitchen sink!) But I do enjoy a beautiful tablescape.
Beach (Coastal) Tablescapes
Behind holidays, my favorite tablescapes are beach themed.

Ship Ahoy Tablescape (source: http://stonegable.blogspot.com)
What’s not to love with this nautical tablescape? The sailboat centerpiece, the shells, sand dollars, and driftwood! And checkout the navy monkey fist!

This tablescape features tableware from Pier1 – one of my FAVORITE stores! I really like the shell napkin rings and the sand dollar detail on the bread plates.

Coastal Tablescape (source: http://sommerwhites.blogspot.com)
This tablescape shows a simple setting with delicate coastal details added to the table runner. The coastal color palette is the focal point of this beach tablescape. Nicely done!

I just had to include this casual al fresco tablescape. The sailboat and the message in a bottle touches are just too cute!
What special touches do you add to your table?
